What is Facebook?
Facebook is a social networking site that began operating in 2004. Facebook users are able to add others as friends, which allows them to build a network. A user can update his or her profile with personal information, news, photos, etc. which allows them to share that information with friends. Users can also join can join Fan Pages, which allow fans of celebrities, sports teams, or organizations to stay up to date with news relating to those people and groups. What is Twitter?
Twitter is a social networking and "microblogging" service that allows users to send and read messages known as tweets. Tweets are messages of no more than 140 characters that are shown on a user's profile page and delivered to the user's subscribers, known as followers. A user is able to send and receive tweets via the Twitter website, external applications (for example, apps for smart phones like iPhone or Droid), or text message.
