Nationwide, viewers got to know Dave from 1983 to 1985 on ABC's "Good Morning America" and "World News This Morning" where he was Chief Meteorologist. While at ABC he also was a meteorological consultant for "World News Tonight", "Nightline", ABC Sports and on-air weathercaster for the ABC Radio Network. After his work at ABC, Dave became Chief Meteorologist for WBZ-TV in Boston and then moved back to his Midwestern roots in St. Louis.
Dave can be seen Monday through Friday on FOX 2 News at 5, 5:30, 6, and 9. He also reports special features for FOX 2 such as the "Weather Spotlight" and "The Home Garden" with his wife, Janis.
Dave holds the American Meteorological Society's Seal of Approval and was the first meteorologist weathercaster on the nightly TV news in St. Louis. He has served as Chairman of the AMS Broadcast Meteorology Board, as an advisor to the Board, and is a member of the National Weather Association. In 1999, Dave was the first weathercaster to ever receive the Quest Award from the St. Louis Chapter of the National Federation of Press Women.
Dedicated to helping children understand and enjoy science, Dave has given guided weather center tours to thousands of boy scouts and girl scouts over the past ten years. He is active with the United Way, the Asthma & Allergy Foundation, the Humane Society and the St. Louis Science Center.
