Early Friday, the main transformer at 7777 Bonhomme Avenue, a 24 story building in Clayton was damaged and knocked out electrical service throughout the building. The cause of the damage has not been determined yet, but a lightning strike may be to blame. It happened just after 10 a.m. when someone reported a fire or explosion in an electrical room. When fire crews arrived, they found some smoke coming from the area.Emergency crews evacuated the building to investigate. The building is without power. It is unclear when employees will be allowed back into the building.
