The search is on for the next American Idol! On Tuesday, July 7th from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m., show us your singing skills at Chesterfield Mall ( Dillard's Court) or St. Clair Square (Center Court). Contestants will have 30 seconds to sing a Capella. The best singer could win a guaranteed audition in Denver, Colorado on July 14th!
The winner of FOX 2's St. Louis Idol announced on FOX 2 and Y98 FM also gets two Front Row seats to the American Idol's Live Concert at Scottrade Center on August 29th. The two runners up will receive two tickets to The American Idol's tour as well. Southwest Airlines will provide roundtrip airfare and hotel accommodations are provided by Drury Hotels.

FOX 2's ST. LOUIS IDOL RULES
Eligibility:
Each contestant must be a legal U.S. resident, 16 to 28 years old on June 12, 2009 (which means you must be born on or between June 13, 1980 and June 12, 1993), who is eligible to work fulltime in the United States. If you are less than 18, you must be accompanied to the audition by your parent or legal guardian. If you are accompanied by a legal guardian (as opposed to a parent), your legal guardian must bring proof of guardianship and a valid photo ID (for example, a driver's license) or you will not be able to audition. You must bring two valid forms of ID that show proof of age and at least one that includes a picture (for example, a birth certificate and a driver's license or a birth certificate and a passport, etc.). All winners are subject to a background check. If, in the opinion of the contest producers, any negative or defamatory information is discovered either during the course of the background checks or otherwise with respect to the winner in question, then, in the sole discretion of the management of KTVI FOX 2, that winner will be disqualified and will not be allowed to participate further in the contest, nor will that winner be eligible for any prize in the contest and the next runner-up will take such winner's place. You are ineligible if you progressed in any previous season of "American Idol" to any of the following levels:

Material: Be prepared to sing a cappella (without instrumental accompaniment) a song of your choice. You will have up to 30 seconds to perform in front of the panel of judges. The judges will base their decision on contestant's singing ability and stage presence. The decision of the judges is final as to all matters, including the extent to which the criteria are met.
Paperwork: You will be required to fill out, sign and agree to any terms and conditions in our required forms. These forms will be available at the audition location. If you are less than 18, both you and your parent or legal guardian must sign each of these forms. If you are found to have given any false information, you may be disqualified.
Locations, Dates and Time: Auditions will be held in the St. Louis market on Tuesday, July 7, 2009 in Dillard's Court at Chesterfield Mall, 1200 Chesterfield Mall, Chesterfield, Missouri 63017, and in Center Court at St. Clair Square, 134 St. Clair Square, Fairview Heights, Illinois 63017, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. central time. Audition dates and locations are subject to change.
The participants will line up in Dillard's Court at Chesterfield Mall or at the Center Court at St. Clair Square, Tuesday, July 7, 2009, and will be asked to show ID at the entrance. After all forms have been filled out, the participant will be assigned a number (first-come, first-served), and that number will be written on their left hand, indicating where in line they are for the audition. Doors to shopping centers will open at 7 a.m. for contestants. Auditions will begin at 10:00 a.m. When called, the participant will be asked to take the stage and perform for up to 30 seconds in front of our panel of judges. After the audition, the participant will exit the stage and the audition process will have ended. There will be only one audition per person. Registration will end at 1 p.m. and auditions will end no later than 1:30 p.m. Auditions are not guaranteed.
The top three performers will be notified by telephone Thursday, July, 9 2009, after 12 p.m., and must agree to appear live on FOX 2 News in the Morning from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. on Friday, July 10, 2009. If a finalist is unavailable to appear on FOX 2 News in the Morning, Friday, July 10, 2009 and/or cannot be reached by 2:00 pm on Thursday, July 9th, 2009, an alternate finalist(s) will be contacted until three finalists are secured.
The three finalists will perform live on FOX 2 News in the Morning and will be asked to sing a capella for up to one minute. The winner will be announced in a simulcast between FOX 2 News in the Morning and Y98 Phillips and Company morning show between 7:00 am and 9:00 am on Friday, July 10, 2009. The winner will also be contacted by telephone later in the day and will be given instructions on how to receive the prize.
