ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI - FOX2now.com) - If you're looking at mounting parking tickets and facing arrest....get in line for amnesty. here's a program to help people meet their legal obligations. Everyone should want to do the right thing but sometimes resources aren't there.

But this program makes it possible to avoid arrest and the problems that go with it. You can avoid getting arrested by signing up for the amnesty program. It's a project put togher by Better Family Life Incorporated.

James Clark is spearheading the program for BFL "We've found through our workforce development that. Warrants keep individuals from being gainfully employed. It can also prevent individuals from renting an apartment"

Mayors and prosecutors from area municipalities are behind the three day program scheduled for Aug. 17th through the 19th. St. Louis Mayor Francis Slay joins Better Family Life in the effort. "What we will do is deactivate arrest warrants for skipping court dates and give them another court date Then they must still report to court to face the charges against them."

The program is intended to handle misdemeanor parking violationsÂ…Â…and citations for failure to pay for Metro Link fares. To qualify for the program you must attend a 45 minute workshop on civic responsibility on Aug. 15th at Harris Stowe State University. Pagedale Police Chief Ricky Collins says the workshops will help people understand you can't break the law.

"With the training they are going to receive prior to coming to our office, wel'll make them understand their responsibility. Later they will come back to make arrangements to face the judge and settle their fine."

The program covers St. Louis City, East St. Louis, Moline Acres, Maryland Heights, Wellston, Berkeley, Pagedale, Normandy and many other municipalities. Clark says, "This is a very effective way and it's a cost cutting way for citizens and its also a good revenue stream for municipalitieis."
