River Levels Fall In Missouri; St. Louis Casino Reopens

ST. LOUIS (AP) — The Mississippi, Missouri, Meramec and other rivers are now falling and are expected to dip back below flood stage over the next several days. The President Casino reopened Wednesday morning. The casino on the Mississippi River near the Gateway Arch in St. Louis closed Sunday because rising river water blocked the entrance ramp. It was the sixth time in the past 18 months that high water has shut down the casino.

The Meramec River got to about 10 feet above flood stage at several spots on Tuesday, but was receding quickly.

Flooding is unusual for this time of year. It was spurred by heavy rains last week across much of the Midwest.
