For the second time in two years a band director at Alton High School is trouble with the law. This time, police say Matthew Lang sexually assaulted a band member at school and off campus. School officials and board members here will decide what happens to 36 year old Matthew Lang next. First, they say he will be put on administrative leave. This, in the wake of Lang being hit with that sexual assault charge. His alleged victim is just sixteen years old.
Parents are stunned by what police say has been happening at Alton high school since last March. Lang is charged with two felony counts of criminal sexual assault and two felony counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse involving that teenage band member.
Just a few years ago the former Alton High School band director David Drillinger resigned after he was charged with battery involving a band member. Now Lang is in trouble with the law.
Lang, 36 of Godfrey, Illinois was taken into custody at his residence Wednesday and is being held on a $250,000 bond.
