When it comes to jobs, the Obama Administration says the trillion dollar stimulus plan is money well spent. Friday's announcement is bound to buoy the President's supporters and give ammunition to his critics. Officially, 650,000 jobs have been saved or created thanks to the stimulus plan. Two key programs get much of the credit. One is Cash for Clunkers which is keeping autoworkers employed. The second is more than $700 billion in infrastructure spending.
There was also significant money that was sent to state and local governments preventing layoffs in education and public safety.
Still, the unemployment rates stands close to 10% and there are no predictions that will come down anytime soon.
Vice President Joe Biden took some time Friday to paint the best picture possible.
"We're no longer talking about whether or not we're gonna slide into depression. We're arguing and talking about the shape of the recovery. And that's a gigantic change in 8 months," explained Biden.
Biden said he continues to expect small and incremental job creation and growth.
