EAST ST. LOUIS, IL (KTVI - FOX2now.com) -
Detectives with the Major Case Squad are investigating the gruesome discovery of a man's body found in East St. Louis. The body of Ronald E. McFarland, 44, was found wrapped in a tarp in the 2900 block of Morris early Tuesday morning. The St. Louis Major Case Squad has been activated to investigate. East St. Louis police requested help from the Major Case Squad since East St. Louis detectives were already handling two shootings that happened overnight.
Investigators have good leads in the case of the body found. People working in the area near 29th and Morris Street found the body and called police around 8:30 this morning. The victim has been identified as Ronald McFarland of Fairmont City.
Autopsy reports indicate he died of blunt force trauma to the head and he likely was killed at another location according to Capt. Brad Wells of the Major Case Squad.
"The victim did not appear he had been there an extended period of time given the weather outside. It appears that the victim was somewhere and had been brought to this area after he met his demise. "
