ST. LOUIS COUNTY, MO (KTVI-FOX2now.com) -
From family and friends to total strangers, all kinds of people came out for an emotional vigil Thursday night in South County. The ceremony for two year old Faith Miller- the St. George girl killed in a freak car accident last weekend. They sang, recited prayers and lit candlesÂ… all to remember little Faith.
The vigil happened on Villaridge Court just off Reavis Barracks Road in St. George- the same spot where faith lost her life Saturday afternoon. Wearing a shirt with her picture and a necklace with her name, Faith's mother Angel Evans called her the perfect baby. She still can't believe her little girl is gone.
"Feels like I don't have a heart. It honestly does. I mean it really don't make sense but I really don't have no feeling right now. I feel numb," said Angel. Faith was in the back seat of a car being driven by her aunt.
Her aunt's young daughter was also in the car. St. Louis County Police say the aunt thought her child in the back seat was choking. We're told she turned around to check on her and when she did, her car veered off the road. It ran over a sign and that apparently ruptured the gas tank. The car then burst into flames. The aunt was able to get her own daughter, but could not get to Faith, her niece.
The aunt was at the vigil- part of both of her arms still wrapped in bandages.
Faith's father, Jason Miller, found the strength to say a few words before he broke down in tears.
"Faith will be in our hearts forever. And we just want you to know that we are so blessed to have had her," said an emotional Jason.
Angel says her nine year old son is helping to keep her strong. She doesn't know, though, how she will go on without her Faith.
"You shouldn't have to do this especially for a little baby. Nobody should have to go through this ever, this is not right," Angel told us. This tragedy has truly touched the community.
An anonymous person donated five thousand dollars to an account set up to help Faith's family.
There is also a benefit barbeque at the site where the accident happened on Saturday. That barbeque is being held in conjunction with the citywide St. George garage sale.
Little Faith was laid to rest Wednesday.
