Sen. Claire McCaskill is urging Chrysler to reconsider shutting down its two plants in the St. Louis suburb of Fenton. The Missouri Democrat was meeting Friday with Chrysler officials in Fenton to hear more details about why the company is closing the plants that made minivans and trucks. The meeting came a day after the final Dodge Ram pickup rolled off the assembly line. The end came sooner than expected. Originally, the truck plant was to close in September, then July 10.
Chrysler emerged from Chapter 11 bankruptcy last month after a new company was created by the sale of most of Chrysler's assets to Fiat.
