HAZELWOOD, MO (KTVI -- FOX2now.com) -
Three young children witness the unthinkable: a double murder. The killer is someone close to them. 23 year old Michael Bullington, shot and killed two people Sunday and then himself. His family says Michael the day was depressed about breaking up with his long-time girlfriend.
Hazelwood police say Bullington shot and killed his ex-girlfriend, 23-year-old Ashlin Munday and her new companion, 23 year old Daniel Smith with a shotgun Sunday evening in front of three young children in a house in the 4800 block of Aubuchon. Investigators say the children were not hurt, but witnessed the shootings. Hazelwood police chief Carl Wolf says the toddlers "had blood splatter on them."
Bullington called his father in San Antonio, Texas after the shooting and told him what he had done. His dad called Hazelwood police asking them to check the house. That's when officers made the gruesome discovery.
An hour later, Bridgeton Police found Michael Bullington dead in his car parked on Ferguson Lane and Missouri Bottom Road. Investigators say he shot and killed himself with the same weapon used to kill Smith and Munday.
Deanna Bullington was visibly shaken and upset when she talked about her nephew, Michael.
"He was no kind of monster. I can't believe he would do something like that. He wasn't like that at all."
