EAST ST. LOUIS, IL (KTVI - FOX2now.com) -
Authorities are looking for a suspect in an East St. Louis triple murder case. Detective Kenneth Berry of the East St. Louis Police Department says a lone gunman shot and killed Jaimaca McDaniel, 24, Raykel Gathing, 26, and Tanikia Harvey, 26, all of East St. Louis, around 9:30 p.m. Saturday at the Mobil station at Caseyville Avenue and Martin Luther King Drive in East St. Louis.
The women were shot and killed while in McDaniel's car at a gas pump. McDaniel's two sons, ages 1 & 2, and Harvey's son, 8, were in the car at the time of the shootings, but were not shot, Berry said. McDaniel's mother told Fox 2 that her daughter laid across her children to shield them from gunfire. She said the suspected killer is the father of McDaniel's sons.
Police have another man in custody but he is not the suspected shooter.
