Fair Saint Louis also postponed the opening of the festival grounds until 12:30 p.m. also due to rain. The Nat 'n Alex Wolff concert scheduled for 1 p.m. was postponed until at least 3 p.m. Crews needed a break in the rain long enough to dry off equipment on stage. Saturday's Train concert and the downtown Fireworks are on schedule for Saturday night.

The rains held off Friday night to allow a rousing start to the annual Fair St. Louis celebration on the downtown riverfront. This year's festivities feature the usual fun, food, music, helicopter, and boat rides. Music acts taking the main stage this year include the Counting Crows on Friday night and Train on Saturday. There will be firework displays both Friday and Saturday. FOX 2 will air the fireworks live Saturday night.
One of the traditional alternatives to Fair St. Louis was back in business. The fireworks display in Alton, Illinois is back on this year after being canceled because of flooding in 2008.
