Five suspects are charged with burglary, stealing and property damage. They hit nine schools in the Hazelwood district stealing hundreds of laptops worth almost half a million dollars. St. Louis County Police report thieves grabbed almost 296 laptops from nine schools over a six month period. Most times hitting during holiday breaks.

"They would enter the schools at night and steal laptops from the library and other areas of the schools where these were kept." Det. Sgt. Tom Lasater - St. Louis County Police

The estimated value of the laptops is almost $400,000. And damage caused during the break ins is about $12,000. A couple of schools were hit more then once.

When they tried to sell them on the internet, thieves gave police a lead.

"The detectives made contact with the seller, it was determined it was a stolen laptop and that helped lead us back to the individuals we have in custody." Det. Sgt. Tom Lasater - St. Louis County Police

Those suspects are Willie Warren 18, David Allen 23, Christopher Peter 17, Marques Ray 28. The fifth suspect is still a juvenile. David Allen is still at large.

Police tell us more than 100 laptops have yet to be recovered. If you have information about these computers or the fifth suspect, David Allen, contact St. Louis County police.

The suspects either lived in the area or once attended the schools. The juvenile will face charges in St. Louis County family court.
