COLLINSVILLE, IL (KTVI-FOX2now.com) -
Police are investigating a daring daylight armed robbery near Collinsville, Illinois. The thieves get away with dozens of guns, cash and jewelry. It's a brazen robbery that sheriff's detectives are calling "alarming." It happened around 10:30 Tuesday morning. Two armed men entered the Bel Aire pawn shop and told the clerks to get down on the floor. In 8 minutes the suspects got away with 30 guns, some of them semi-automatic pistols and assault type weapons. They also stole hundreds of dollars in cash and jewelry.
Authorities released surveillance video of the suspects' car Wednesday. It's a late model red Pontiac.
Detectives say the two men cased the business before robbing it. They believe the thieves are experienced in crime.
"They are individuals that should be considered armed and dangerous and likely don't consider anyone else's safety or welfare except for their own," Lt. Mike Dixon says. "They didn't get rushed they knew what they wanted and they kept calm the entire time."
Madison County detectives are asking anyone with any information to contact them. They also say one suspect called the other by the name of "Thomas" during the holdup.
