ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI-FOX2now.com) -
Pit bulls snatched in the largest federal dog fighting ring bust ever will soon be put up for adoption. Wednesday, the humane society put a few of the animals on parade, including a pit bull terrier which will become the face of the anti-dog fighting campaign.
American pit bull terrier, Faye, likely lost her lips battling another pit bull terrier. Her lips were literally ripped off her face, likely in a fight.
Dave Merlot, co-owner of Mutts-n-Stuff, a local pitbull rescue group, is looking to lend this five year old a helping hand.
Faye's surgery will not just be cosmetic. She needs lips to keep her teeth from completely rotting out. Faye will need a series of surgeries, the first to take place sometime next week.
Faye is among about 500 dogs that will soon be available for adoption. the Humane Society is still wating for a court order to grant them full custody. They can't put the dogs into new homes until that order is issued. They're expecting it soon.
