A vote is set for Monday night that will determine the future of a proposed Schnuck's store at the corner of Clarkson and Kehrs Mill Road. Developers want to use the 4 acre piece of property to build a 41,000 square foot grocery store. Neighbors are worried about additional traffic at the already busy intersection near Marquette High School.

The Planning and Zoning Commission gave this project a negative recommendation in May. Even the city of Chesterfield, which is across Kehrs Mill from the proposed development, recent passed a resolution asking that the city of Ballwin vote against rezoning the property from residential to commercial.

A draft ordinance that the board will be voting on tonight states that Board of Aldermen finds that rezoning will not adversely affect the character of the immediate vicinity and is not inconsistent with good planning practices.

The vote will take place at 7:00 Monday night at the Ballwin Commons Community Center.
