Build-A-Bear Stuffing Burns Inside Tractor Trailer
Westbound Interstate 70 was shut down at Highway 79 Friday morning due to a burning tractor trailer. The semi caught fire early around 3:00 am. Traffic was diverted onto T.R. Hughes which is at mile marker 218. The trailer was carrying stuffing for Build-A-Bear teddy bears which made it highly flamable. Every time fire crews thought they had the fire out, it would re-ignite. The trailer was completely destroyed. The Missouri State Highway Patrol says that the big-rig lost control due to slick road conditions.

Fire officials on the scene were dealing with a fuel leak from the semi that was spilling into a nearby creek.

The traffic problems doubled after another accident about a mile behind the tractor trailer fire when a car ran into the back in of another semi stalled in the traffic jam. .
