There is a bizarre twist to the story of a Benton, Illinois woman who put her kids up for sale on eBay.

We first told you about the story Wednesday.

Initially, Benton police thought the woman wasn't from the small, southern Illinois town but rather from the Chicago area.

It turns out she does live in Benton and Illinois State Police met with her Thursday.

EBay has pulled down the site.

But on it, the 31 year old woman said she was trying to sell her four and eight year old daughters for two days so she could get some rest.

In the write up, the woman called the kids crazy and unruly.

She said she is bi-polar, suffers from major depression, has a borderline personality disorder and is on the verge of a total breakdown.

We brought the site to the attention of Benton Police Wednesday.

After investigating, Benton Police Chief Mike O'Neill told Fox 2 about the Chicago connection.

But Thursday morning, Illinois State Police found the woman at home in Benton.

Chief O’Neill says state police investigators compared her eBay picture with other photos and tracked her down.

O’Neill says the woman told investigators she was just looking for someone to talk to.

"She had no intent of selling or loaning her children for two days. But that was just her way of reaching out," explained O’Neill.

O’Neill admitted that he jumped the gun initially in saying the woman was from Chicago.

He says he got that information from another source and that Illinois State Police were still investigating.

In fact, O’Neill says his department has had some minor dealings with this woman.

The chief is just glad the mother and her kids were found.

O’Neill said, "We know where the children are. The school has not made a report on the care of the children that there's something going on. (The Illinois Division of Children and Family Services) is probably going to be talking to the mother."

Investigators tell Fox 2 both kids appear to be fine and they were not removed from the home by authorities.

Among the dealings police here have had with this woman- a minor domestic dispute and one incident where they arrested her several years ago for not appearing in court on a traffic violation.

She was not taken into custody in connection with this - police say the posting itself was not a crime.
