Every year, it's quite the scene. Hundreds of thousands of tulip bulbs given away at Chesterfield Commons. A bounty of tulip bulbs will brighten homes built by Habitat for Humanity - St Louis. THF Realty is giving 15,000 Holland tulip bulbs to Habitat for Humanity-St. Louis. But there will be plenty left over for the general public - about 100,000 free tulip bulbs.
The annual giveaway by THF marks transitioning of landscaping at the nation's largest open air retail center. The pink and yellow tulip bulbs are being replaced with annuals for the summer growing season. The 1.9 million-square-foot Chesterfield Commons is the most landscaped shopping center in the region. Habitat for Humanity-St. Louis will give its bulbs away to the 258 families in 10 neighborhoods in St. Louis that now live in homes built by the charitable organization. It will offer any bulbs remaining for sale at the ReStore shop operated by Habitat for Humanity-St. Louis.
Where: Chesterfield Commons. Hwy. 40 to Boone's Crossing, to right on THF Blvd., then an immediate left after the fountains into the parking lot directly in front of PetsMart. Distribution will take place behind the water fountain and flag poles nearest the Boone's Crossing entrance. When: 9 a.m. (until bulbs run out), Friday, May 1, 2009
