Catchy cigarette ads apparently leave a lasting impact on teenage girls. Researchers at the American Legacy Foundation say ads for Camel number 9 cigarettes were a hit with girls ages 12 to 16.

The ads ran in Vogue, Cosmopolitan and Glamour three years ago. They featured a pink camel and offered free purses and wristbands. A year after the ads ran, 22% of girls in the study listed camel as their favorite cigarette ad.

R-J Reynolds claims the ads were aimed at adults.
