The host of the hottest shows on cable t.v. visits north St. Louis. The "American Pickers" looked for deals at Shapiro's Scrap Yard on Natural Bridge Friday afternoon. The American Pickers have become somewhat of a legend in a short time. Pickers host Mike Wolf and Frank Fritz share a common bond with Stan Shapiro and his son, Sam. They'll buy anything that's worth some money. They own Shapiro's Scrap Yard on Natural Bridge, just east of Goodfellow.The Pickers toured the three-acre scrap yard on golf carts. They bought an antique bank of mail boxes and six-blade brass fan introduced by Emerson Electric in 1987. They also brought a sugar machine.
The yard is open to the public and, it turns out, there are plenty of American Pickers out there.
