STE. GENEVIEVE, MO (KTVI-FOX2now.com) -
A possible suspect was being questioned Thursday night in the murder of a Jefferson County man. The body was found in the back of a pickup truck in a remote area of northern Ste. Genevieve County. The man being detained lives about a mile away. Rebecca Bieser found the gruesome scene at the end of her driveway on Bieser Lane where it intersects with Charter Church Road. The body of a man was laying on the tailgate of his pickup truck.
He has been identified as Daniel Dotson, 41, who reportedly lives with his mother near Desoto.
Rebecca's first concern was for children would be passing by soon on a bus on their way to school. "The paramedics got one of those paper sheets," she says, "and they kind of surrounded him enough and my legs were covering his arm and that's how we tried to shield it from the kids. I hoped it worked."
Ste. Genevieve County deputies acted quickly, managing to identify a person they believed knew about the murder. With help from the highway patrol, they managed to take the man from his home and bring him in for interrogation.
Their investigation continues and they are looking for anyone who may have seen the white pickup truck where the body was found.
They believe the body and truck were there sometime between 8:00 p.m. Wednesday and 6:30 a.m. Thursday.
