MOLINE ACRES, MO (KTVI-FOX2now.com) -
The people running a Boy Scout Christmas tree lot in Moline Acres found themselves staring down the barrel of a gun a theif ripped off the proceeds they'd raised. It is a fundraiser for Scout Troop 551. The kids are disappointed they had to learn the hard way that not everyone is out to do a good deed.
Christmas trees have been sold at this lot for 50 years. It was started by the Men's Club at Grace Lutheran Chapel.
Ten years ago the boys scouts starting selling trees. It's their biggest fundraiser. The money pays for camp and other events. Losing over three hundred dollars to an armed robber will only shortchange the boys. It happened around 7:45 last night.
The scoutmaster says a young man came to the lot and asked about trees. He said he couldn't afford a tree, then pulled a small caliber handgun and demanded money.
None of the boys were present during the holdup.
