FESTUS, MO (KTVI - FOX2now.now) - The young man trapped in his home in Festus since last Friday is finally able to get out of the house. The teenager has multiple sclerosis, and a sudden rainstorm washed away his bridge to the outside world. Everything has changed for Cody Lott since last Friday. The 18-year-old, who is confined to a wheel chair, is finally getting out of the house after a flash flood washed his old bridge away.

John Lott, Cody's father, explained his homeowner's insurance wouldn't pay for another bridge to go up. He also said "Cody is a good kid, he's a strong kid. He doesn't get shaken or rattled very easily."

Family friend Chris Walker called some local companies to see if they would help out. "Actually, I had a little tear in my eyes to see him smile is something we all wanted to see," Walker said.

Among the companies volunteering are Pazdera who hauled the material, while Fred Weber supplied the rock. Willmix pitched in with the concrete, and it was the Goodwin Brothers who supplied the equipment.

Darin Roth from Goodwin Brothers said "Our company has always been a part of charity and helping people that need to be helped."

On Monday, the concrete will be mixed, getting ready to pave the surface for Cody's new bridge.

The new, wider bridge has a new name. They'll call it "The Cody Lott Expressway."
