Bridgeton Police says a a police officer was hit by a car driven by a forgery suspect. The 39 year-old Bridgeton officer was taken to a nearby hospital with minor injuries, he was treated and released. It all began shortly after nine last night at the Lazy Boy Furniture store where officers were investigating a forgery complaint. Police tried to arrest a 30 year old woman.

They say she took off in a car and struck the officer. In response shots were fired by Bridgeton Police. While leaving the parking lot authorities say the suspect's car smashed into another vehicle and continue on. Police pursued and the chase ended at Lindbergh and Clayton Road.

There was a short foot pursuit which ended with the woman being taken into custody without any more problems. Police plan to seek warrants today. No one else was hurt.
