DOWNTOWN ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI-FOX2now.com)—
A car smashed into an outdoor dining area of a downtown restaurant early this morning. It happened at the Smoking Joe's Bar B Q restaurant around 2:30 a.m. Thursday. The establishment is located on Washington Avenue at 19th Street. Neighbors said the collision caused their apartments located above the restaurant to shake. Some said it sounded like a bomb exploding. There were two women inside the car, one complained of neck and back injuries.
The restaurant was already closed. A canopy, a wrought iron fence, tables, chairs, and a planter were demolished. Firewood stacked up on the patio went flying into the street.
Neighbors told Fox 2 it's the fifth time such an accident has happened at the location in the past year.
They say a similar crash occurred last week causing a car's airbags to deploy.
