MADISON, IL (KTVI-FOX2now.com)—
There is an all out search for three teenage boys who may have fired a shot that struck a little boy who was sitting inside his Madison, Illinois home Thursday evening. The child is expected to recover, but his mother is deeply distressed over the shooting, "I feel so, so sad. I wish it had been me instead of him." Tagwilla Anderson's son Joshua Martin, 1, was sitting on his grandfather's lap in their living room when a stray bullet pierced their window and struck the little boy in the face, "Very, very shocking. I didn't believe it when I first heard it that my son got hit with a bullet."Their home is in Madison, Illinois. Police say the bullet came from a crime scene two blocks away.
Tagwilla explains the bullet went in on the right side of his face, and is now resting below his left eye, "I'm going to staying with him during the whole time he's going to be up there."
"They heard two shots," Joshua's grandmother Teresa Evans said this tragedy could have been a lot worse. Her three children were outside cleaning up their front yard when the shot whizzed past them. One daughter watched the shot fly by, "She said she was standing outside and felt a whoosh go past her face."
Teresa adds, "My mom had my other grandson and just put him in his car seat and that's how the bullet missed them."
Right now police are looking for a black Dodge Magnum and three teenage boys. They range in age from 17-19 years old.
"He's doing good right now," Joshua's mother has a desperate plea for those youngsters who engage in crime, "All the ignorance and all the fighting and all the violence just needs to come to an end because innocent people like my son getting hurt for no apparent reason."
Police believe they are narrowing in on the people they're looking for in connection with the crime.
