A woman and her niece say a roofing contractor scammed them out of thousands of dollars. The four family home that the women share not only needed a new roof, but the concrete steps needed to be replaced. Kathleen Carter is 74 years old and living on a fixed income. A flyer was faxed to her niece's job and she brought it home, "We had been looking for roofers because it had been raining real bad on her side because she lives upstairs on the other side but my kitchen was taking water"

The four family that the women share not only needed a new roof, but the concrete steps needed to be replaced. A man from Bulldog Roofing said he could do it all for six thousand four hundred dollars.

They spent one day on the roof and they haven't been back. Unfortunately the women paid the full amount. The contractor says the roof is done. Carter can't be sure of that. She is sure the concrete steps still need repair

They were supposed to come back Wednesday...Didn't show and this grandmother and her niece are devasted by the huge loss of money. Now.... they realize you can't pay the full amount until the job is done and you approve.

"I'm really disappointed, I don't think I got angry until sunday. I almost fell out at church. I was sitting there and I thought oh God what have I done. " Our calls to the contractor were unanswered.

The Better Business Bureau issued a warning about this company. Particulary since the contractor solicited the work through faxes. He had been warned by the Missouri Attorney General's office that he couldn't do that. And a word of caution, before you enter into an agreement for home repairs do your homework.
