It's the size of a pager and it could save your child's life. Using satellite and cellular technology, this device will keep kids safe wherever they are. It's called the Micro GPS, and it was created by St. Louis company, Allied Intelligence.

Every 15 seconds it sends a signal through the cell phone network which is then picked up by Global Positioning Satellites, tracking your child's every move. Parents can slip it into their child's back pack or pocket.

You can see a precise history of where your child has been, viewable in any computer or smart phone. If you have a teenager, you can monitor their driving habits. The device can tell you the speed at which they are driving, if mounted in a car.

It also has an SOS button. Pressing it will send an emergency text message to a designated cell phone.

Another use for the Micro GPS is it can be worn around the neck to track Alzheimer patients that might wonder away.

The technology does not come cheap. The unit sells for $350 and there is a $50 monthly service fee. Features and coverage areas might differ.
