Now that the Democrats have kicked the tires. St. Louis has to convince them to buy the car. That comes down to raising around 40 million dollars and having a lot of political influence.St. Louis showed the visiting Democratic site selection committee that the city sizzled. But after they see Chuck Berry, Nelly, the convention space, hotels and transit systems they'll want to see money. The host city has to come up with 40-50 million dollars raised nationwide.
The final decision will be made inside the Democratic National Committee. It doesn't hurt that President Obama's two closest colleagues in the US Senate support St. Louis' convention bid.
The party in Keiner plaza is a nice start. Now, St. Louis has to close the deal with money and influence.
