The 27th annual Ancient Order of Hibernians Saint Patrick's Day Parade stepped off in Dogtown Wednesday afternoon and the streets were filled with people hoping for some fun and a little luck of the Irish. More than 100 marched in the parade, ranging from school groups, Irish dancers, local VIP's, and of course Irish families.

The Grand Marshall of the 2010 parade was James Holloran, the owner of John D. McGurks Irish Pub in Soulard.

Police will also be cracking down on underage drinking this year and all glass containers are prohibited. Parade goer's are also reminded that illegally parked cars will be towed immediately.

Some of the restaurants and bars opened early along the route to accommodate the early comers. But it will also be an early night. The businesses are closing up at 8:00 this evening so the neighborhood can be cleaned and residents can get some sleep Wednesday night.
