ST. LOUIS, MO(KTVI-FOX2Now.com) -
How old were you when you learned to swim? You probably were not a toddler. But there are those who believe it is never too early and one remarkable program teaches babies as young as 6 months how to survive in the water. It's a behavioral approach to swimming developed in the mid 1960's taught by an organization called Infant Swimming Resource. And I-S-R is now offering lessons in St. Louis.
The technique is nothing fancy. They simply teach children how to survive falling in the water by flipping onto their back until help arrives.
I-S-R lessons cost $85 dollars per week, and are taught five days in a row for ten minutes at a time. The length of time it takes to learn the technique varies but it can take several weeks.
