SUNSET HILLS, MO (KTVI-FOX2now.com)—
St. Louisians pitch in to help find a cure for child hood cancer. Among those who took part, St. Louis Children's Hospital employees and the parent of a brave St. Charles teenager who inspired others even as he lost his battle with cancer. Dennis Aubuchon's son, CJ, fought a year long battle with cancer. A battle he ultimately lost."As you know people that go through chemo normally lose their hair. CJ was a little, I don't know if he wanted that to happen to himÂ…going bald. But he was very handsome bald so I raised money for him and for St. Baldricks and my beautiful locks will soon be gone," says Aubuchon.
"I think it's going to be funny cause I don't think he's going to look as handsome as CJ but we'll see. He needs to get rid of the grey so this is the best way to do it," says wife Jeanine Aubuchon.
A lot of Children's Hospital staffers volunteered to show their solidarity with young cancer sufferers. They included nurses, a doctor, a volunteer, and a music therapist form the hospital's pediatric cancer clinic. All were hoping their actions will eventually bring and end to the disease claiming far too many young lives.
"Not a day goes by when I don't think about him in one way or the other. We try to raise money for cancer awareness childhood cancer awareness since his death," says Dennis Aubuchon.
Jeanine Aubuchon says,"Everybody needs to know about the affects of childhood cancer. It's just been put by the wayside. Kids are dying and they shouldn't be. Research should have been done on this 10 years ago," says Jeanine Aubuchon. "We should not have had to loose our son and we really don't want other people to go through this. So I have an opportunity to keep doing what I'm doing. So I'm going to just keep screaming until somebody listens."
All the heads were shaved to support the St. Baldrick's Foundation. The organization funds childhood cancer research.
