An ex-girlfriend of embattled Democratic lieutenant governor nominee Scott Lee Cohen says he's unfit for office. Twenty-nine-year-old Amanda Eneman issued a statement Saturday through her attorney saying that, based on her observations and Cohen's behavior during their relationship, she "does not believe that he is fit to hold any public office including that of lieutenant governor."Cohen was arrested in 2005 for allegedly holding a knife to Eneman's throat; charges were dropped when Eneman failed to appear in court. Eneman once was charged with prostitution.
Details of Cohen's arrest and claims by his ex-wife that he abused her and used steroids during their marriage became widely known only after Cohen won the nomination last Tuesday.
Democratic leaders want him to quit the race, but so far he's refused.
Phone messages left Saturday evening with a Cohen spokesman were not immediately returned.
