ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI-FOX2now.com) -
Illinois Governor Pat Quinn has a problem. His running mate, Scott Lee Cohen, was arrested in 2005 for putting a knife to a prostitute's neck. And Thursday that was just a small part of Illinois' political action.
Barely 48 hours after the polls closed in Illinois, and we already have the knife to the neck revelations, a demand by the governor that his running mate quit, one candidate who did quit, and an ad comparing another candidate to Tony Soprano. And that's just the democrats.
The republicans, meanwhile, don't even know who their nominee for governor is. The primary was so close that the result is still in doubt.
Cohen is a little-known pawn broker from Chicago. He claimed the woman in question was his girlfriend, but police records indicated the woman was a prostitute. Cohen says the situation resolved itself.
"I was arrested, when she sobered up, she dropped the charges," he says.
Quinn has insisted Cohen drop out of the race, but Cohen is refusing.
