It's now down to one. Macy's is closing this weekend and the only remaining anchor store Sears is expected to close when its lease expires next month. Over the last decade, the slow demise of Northwest Plaza has had a profound effect on the Pattonville School District. At one time, Northwest Plaza pumped millions of dollars into the schools. Now it's down to about $700,000, and most of that money comes from property taxes, not sales tax.The district has made adjustments to cope with the declining revenue. It's not replacing non-essential employees, and it's cut spending in non-essential areas.
