ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI-FOX2now.com)—
St. Louis police shot a teenager after they say he pulled a gun on them. Two officers were patrolling an alley near the corner of Penrose and Shreve when they saw someone they thought looked suspicious. But when the officers attempted to question him, things quickly turned ugly. According to police, as soon as they stopped him to ask a few questions, the suspect pulled a gun on them. One of the officers fired two shots. One of those shots hit the suspect in the left shoulder. He is believed to be about 18 and is hospitalized in stable condition.St. Louis Police Lt. Col. Antionette Filla explains, "They were up here because of the increase in crime and burglaries and robberies, so they wanted to interview him and see what he was doing and make sure he wasn't one of the suspects we were looking for."
The officers were patrolling in plain clothes, but their jackets and shirts said police.
As is routine in these cases, the officers involved have been placed on administrative leave.
