BRENTWOOD, MO (KTVI-FOX2now.com) - Despite closing the Chrysler and Ford plants, new cars are once again being built in St. Louis. Actually, they're new old cars. Three brand new 1969 Chevrolet Camaros are leading the fleet. Back in 1969, a new Camaro retailed for about $3,000. Now, a company in St. Louis is building the same car but the price tag has jumped to $150,000. It's the brainchild of St. Louis native Noah Alexander, a 29-year-old entrepreneur who obviously knows cars and a thing or two about the economy, "If you're a real car guy, maybe you're spending less in other areas, but you're still going to be into classic cars."

The '69 Camaro was, indeed, a classic. What Alexander and his skilled staff at Classic Car Studio are doing is recreating them, "We built three of them from the ground up. We started in - every nut, every bolt, every screw, all the wiring, everything is brand new."

If he can't find a part, he makes one at his Classic Car Studio off the beaten path in suburban Brentwood.

The new old Camaros are modified -- especially when it comes to horsepower. How about 800 horses under the hood?

Noah says, "This is a motor built for a racing boat. We're putting it in a car."

How fast will this go? "This car, according to the gearing, will do about a 165 miles an hour."

In business for four short years, the car company is already known worldwide. Fifty percent of the business comes from sending restored cars overseas, "I've got a car shipping to Japan today. An old Cadillac."

The three Camaros already have buyers in St. Louis, southern California and Boston. Each one took about a year and a half to construct, "It takes a long time, but the results are unique and they're gorgeous looking cars."

If you're in the market for a ''new'' old Camaro, the price varies with the options you want.
