ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI-FOX2now.com) - A St. Louis priest pleads guilty to possessing child pornography. Father James Patrick Grady, 58, will be sentenced June 25th. The case is the result of an undercover F.B.I. operation that took place on the Internet. The feds posted an advertisement on Craig's List indicating that young females of indeterminate age were available.

The federal prosecutor told the judge in court Wednesday morning they had evidence Father Grady tried to hire a 16-year-old girl to have sex with last summer. In reality, the priest was communicating with an undercover agent. Instead of pleading guilty to that crime, the priest admitted to possessing photos of child pornography on his computer.

The feds say they found about 100 child porn photos that show girls ages 7 to 17. A plea deal calls for Grady to get 80 months in prison. Under federal law he must serve at least 85% of the sentence. Father Grady had no comment when he left the courthouse, neither did his attorney.

Grady remains free on bond. He was suspended from his duties at St. Raphael the Archangel Church in south St. Louis when the case first came to light. He is still a priest and has been one for decades. He has served at a number of parishes in the area.
