Fifteen hundred St. Louisans eager for a job or a better job jumped at the chance to apply for one of one thousand new jobs offered by Pinnacle Entertainment at its soon to be opened River City Casino in Lemay.

The gaming operation will open its doors this spring once the Missouri Gaming Commission issues its approval. Managers say it will take 45 days to screen and interview applicants. Then they will need to be trained. Jobs range from kitchen workers to card dealers and top level managers.

Among those lining up to apply in person at the casino's employment office at 8643 South Broadway Thursday was Bryan Dotson who drove all the way from Memphis. "I have a job now but I'm just looking for some expanding responsibilities," Dotson explained. Susan Hanes of St. Louis said she was willing to take any job. She said she needed work because her current employer had cut her hours back and it was getting difficult to support her children. Gregory Herr of St. Louis said he worked in a family business but wanted to supplement his income because economic times are so uncertain.
