On Monday, students, faculty, and parents protested at Missouri Baptist University. They rallied against Governor Jay Nixon's plan to eliminate state scholarships at private schools. Hundreds came out to write letters and make phone calls to try to convince the governor to re-think his proposal. Nixon is proposing cuts to programs like "Bright Flight" and "Access Missouri".

School leaders say the state would be the first in the nation to make cuts that only impact private schools.

The governor said the cuts are needed because of the budget shortfall.
