ST. LOUIS COUNTY, MO (KTVI - FOX2now.com) - Here we go again. A chill is in the air and there are more days ahead of rainy weather. Pounding rain moves into downtown St. Louis Sunday night causing problems for Monday morning commuters in the form of slick roads. There was a multi-car pile up at I-70 and I-170. So far, the wet weather has not been bad enough to cause the River Des Peres to jump its bank in University City and flood nearby homes.

Trees in area yards gave up their leaves faster than usual this year because of all the rain.

Patrick Geraty with St. Louis Composting said, "Usually leaf season for us is about six to seven weeks looks like this years it's going to roll into 4 weeks."

Each year, St. Louis Composting will mulch a half million cubic yards of leaves and other yard waste and this autumn they are working overtime.

"Almost twice as busy. Some of our facilities have been staying open til 7:30 and 8 o'clock and night to accommodate the waste haulers there's so much on the curb for them to pick up."

At the Kirkwood Farmers Market they're not letting the rain slow them down. They're setting up the Christmas Tree lot. Trees should begin arriving next week. Rain is no good for them. These folks know the perfect weather for selling O' Tanenbaum.

Summit Produce's Dan Mitchell says, "We'd like partly cloudy, a little chill in the air. A little light snow is always best."
