DOWNTOWN ST. LOUIS (KTVI-FOX2now.com)—
Especially at the end of the season it's customary for Rams players to throw game-worn souvenirs into the stands and Sunday's game was no different but it was a scramble for one of those impromptu souvenirs that left two fans injured. "We thought it was quite serious," Coach Steve Spagnuolo told reporters, "but I think they're going to be o-k they're on the way to the hospital with one of our doctors."Trainers and players rushed to the aid of the two men as they fell 10-12 feet to the concrete floor below. As a player threw one of his shoes into the crowd about the tunnel that the players walk in and out of, two men battled for the shoe only to have both of them lean and hop over the railing and onto a tarp that covered the tunnel. The weight of the two men too much for the tarp to take and they both plunged to the ground below. One man landing on his hip the other on his neck. The fan who landed on his neck was back-boarded and rushed to the hospital for evaluation.
The other man was treated at the dome and released. The accident happened on the day the Rams wanted to thank their fans for supporting them this dismal season, not the end of the fan appreciation day that team bosses wanted. "So our prayers and good wishes go to those one of 2 people," said Spagnuolo, "there are many more things in this world more important than a football game, so we're hopeful they're OK."
