EARTH CITY, MO (KTVI - FOX2now.com) -
The Rams made sure the hungry had food for their Thanksgiving feast. It has become a St. Louis tradition. Plenty of plans are in the works in addition to the charity work, beginning with team co- owner Lucia Rodriguez, who will have a chance to prove something Thursday. It's her assertion that she's queen of her kitchen.
"I'm a great cook! Are you kidding?"
She and her family will spread a Thanksgiving feast for their Rams. It'll be mostly a potluck but Lucia hopes to do what she does best.
"Baking, like pies and cookies, she tells us."
Part of her family was already in town for the celebration. Three of her children will be joining her here later.
Her husband, Lupe, and their oldest son, William, 26, helped hand out turkeys and bags of food for the hungry, Tuesday. The players had chipped in $21-thousand dollars for the foodstuffs.
They worked with Schnucks, and with the Urban League who staged the giveaways at their facilities in East St. Louis, Grandel Square and north St. Louis County.
Safety Oshiomogho Atogwe says 18 members of his family are in from Canada where their Thanksgiving is a day of thanks for their blessings in October.
On Thursday they will be cooking at his home in St. Charles. He doesn't seem to mind the fact that he's got to work during the holiday.
