ST. CHARLES, MO (KTVI-FOX2now.com) -
The line from the movie Airplane was "Don't call me Shirley," That wasn't the case Friday in St. Charles, Missouri. That's because everyone at a luncheon was named "Shirley." This was part of the celebration of the 13th Anniversary of The Shirley Club. Fox 2's Shirley Washington also joined them.
Shirley Rose, founder of the club, said "I know you'll wear it in pride," as Shirley Washington was officially inducted into The Shirley Club.
The club was founded 13 years ago in Australia by a woman named Shirley. The Missouri Chapter founded by Shirley Rose in May, met at the Mother-In-Law House in St. Charles. They ate, sipped on Shirley Temples (of course), and they talkedÂ…a lot.
