ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI - FOX2now.com) - Missouri's Humane Society is involved in a rescue of more than 100 animals from a home in St. Clair, Missouri, and this rescue isn't just about dogs and cats. Rabbits, baby goats, and other farm animals were rescued as well.

A van with 65 rabbits on board was the first to arrive Thursday night, with vets waiting on dozens of dogs and cats that were to follow.

The humane society says the animals were living outside with feces piled up high enough to ooze out of their cages. Thursday night, vets in St. Louis were examining the animals and nursing them back to health.

About 150 animals were rescued from that St. Clair, Missouri home. 25 of them are rabbits. Some of the larger farm animals like goats, hens, roosters and ducks were taken to the humane society's Long Meadow Rescue Ranch.

Animal cruelty investigators went to the home with the Franklin County Sheriff's Department. After a warrant was served, the humane society found the animals living in deplorable conditions.

Most of the animals were kept outside in the bitter cold with frozen water. Dr. Matthew Shivelbine will faced an all night task of checking every single animal.
