FENTON, MO (KTVI-FOX2now.com)—
Finishing touches are being made on a state of the art hospital in Fenton, MO. St. Clare Health Center opens March 30th. It will replace St. Joseph's Hospital in Kirkwood that will close the same day St. Clare opens. The hospital cost 236 million dollars. Ground was broken for construction back in June of 2006.St. Clare has 154 rooms that are called family suites. There is a fold out sofa so a family member can spend the night. And the suite has a flat screen TV, DVD player, sound machine, refrigerator and the patient's medication is kept in the room to keep a nurse from having to run down the hall.
There is no one big nursing station on each floor. Instead there are nursing pods located near patients' room. 80 percent of what a nurse needs to give care is only five seconds away. There is state of the art medical equipment located through out the health center.
The hospital lobby resembles a hotel. They consulted the Ritz Hotel for ideas when they built the health facility.
