A caretaker of the Friedens Cemetery discovered the body lying out in the open beside a road and a gravestone in the cemetery off of Route 162. The call to cops was made in the late morning at noon the Major Case Squad was activated. Detectives knocked on doors and followed leads while crime scene technicians collected footprints and tire tracks.

"Just the mere fact of where the body was located makes it suspicious", says Major Jeff Connor of the Major Case Squad.

Not long after the coroner removed the body from the scene, detectives tracked down an identity: 28-year-old Chad Bell of Troy. There were no signs of trauma and detectives believe the body was dumped there some time overnight. Bell was last seen alive Monday evening, about 12 hours later his body was discovered. While Major Case detectives will wait weeks for a toxicology report they will keep this case classified as a suspicious death but one likely not at the hands of someone else.
